The Goal
To reimagine Spirit Airlines’ visual identity by elevating the brand beyond its budget-airline reputation. The objective was to create a modern, trustworthy, and customer-focused design system that improves perception while maintaining Spirit’s energetic, accessible personality.
The Idea
The redesign centers on transforming Spirit from “cheap and chaotic” into “affordable and reliable.” The new wordmark uses bold, streamlined typography paired with an abstract aircraft icon to communicate clarity, motion, and optimism.
A refined yellow-and-black palette reinforces brand recognition, while updated visual elements — cleaner layouts, improved legibility, and simplified graphics — create a more cohesive experience across digital, print, and in-flight touchpoints. The result is a brand system that feels confident, uplifting, and aligned with the expectations of modern travelers.
Logo Redesign

Redesigned Logo:

Logo Process
For the logo, I wanted to keep Spirit’s fun, energetic vibe but make it feel more modern and trustworthy. The current logo is simple, but it doesn’t stand out or communicate anything about flying.
In the redesign, I built a custom wordmark with stronger forms and added an abstract plane icon to bring motion and personality into the brand. The spark shapes help sell the idea of travel being exciting without making it feel childish.
Overall, the goal was a logo that feels bold, recognizable, and fits both digital and physical touchpoints while still capturing Spirit’s identity.
AD Mockups

Ad Process
For the ads, I wanted to show how the new Spirit branding works in real situations. I kept everything clean and easy to read, focusing on simple messaging and strong visuals.
The billboard highlights value in a quick, clear way. The social ad is bold and straight to the point, made to catch attention while scrolling. The transit poster focuses on the updated mobile experience and makes the brand feel more reliable.
Overall, the goal was to keep the ads consistent, modern, and aligned with the new identity while proving the system works across print and digital.
Vehicle Mockup

Vehicle Mockup Process
For the vehicle mockups, I wanted to show how the new Spirit branding works on a larger scale. The goal was to keep the designs bold, readable, and instantly recognizable from a distance.
The planes use a clean split of yellow and black with the updated wordmark placed where it has the most visibility. The vans and buses follow the same approach—simple layouts, strong contrast, and consistent placement of the logo so the brand feels unified across every vehicle.
Overall, these mockups help show how the redesign can extend beyond digital assets and work in real-world environments while still keeping the energy and personality of the new identity.
App Mockup

App Process
For the app screens, I focused on making the new branding feel clean, easy to use, and more modern than the current Spirit experience. The home screen is simple and straight to the point—clear search, quick access buttons, and visuals that match the updated style.
The ticket screen follows the same approach: bold, readable info and a layout that feels organized instead of cluttered. I kept the colors, icons, and type consistent so the app feels connected to the rest of the rebrand.
Overall, the goal was to make the app look more reliable and user-friendly while keeping the design true to Spirit’s new identity.
Stationery

Stationery Process
For the stationery set, I kept the layout clean and consistent with the rest of the rebrand. The focus was on making the materials feel professional while still carrying Spirit’s bold, energetic look.
The business card uses strong contrast and the updated logo to make the identity stand out. The envelope and letterhead keep things simple, using the yellow bar as a key branding element and leaving plenty of open space for readability.
Overall, the goal was to create a stationery system that looks modern, organized, and clearly connected to the new Spirit visual identity.
Brand Manual Process
The brand manual pulls the whole redesign together—logo usage, color system, typography, layout rules, and examples of how the identity works across different touchpoints. I kept it simple, clear, and easy to follow so the new Spirit branding stays consistent wherever it’s used.
